From the sun-kissed natural look favoured by supermodel Gisele and stylish sisters Poppy and Cara Delevingne to the neon-dipped lengths modelled by the likes of Lady Gaga and Lauren Conrad, two-tone colour is still a firm favourite for the A-list.

The secret to making this trend work in the real world is working with a subtle graduation and a carefully selected palette of colours - and don't forget to prescribe the right colour care products to ensure that the look continues to look great long after your client's salon appointment.

Alexa's style of dip dye is perfect for clients who want to experiment with new hair trends but still want to stay on the safe side of things. The natural colour tone matches Alexa's style incredibly well and it is really flattering against her parted fringe.

"Usually Caroline's dip dyed hair suits her perfectly, but I find this particular photo of her hair far too harsh and overdone. The colour tone of the dye clashes against her skin tone and make-up - it looks like she is wearing bad extensions!

"There is no gradual building up from the two separate shades which makes the dye look uneven and uncomfortable."

"I absolutely love Gabriella's use of different colour tones, it suits her edgy style! What I like most about this example of dip dye is how it neatly blends in towards the roots. There are no harsh lines and sections that look odd!

"In terms of styling, the middle parting keeps Garbriella looking sleek and edgy."

"This shade suits Lea to a T. When doing a dip dye, you have to remember that the lighter shade should still complement your client and it should still blend together with the main hair colour.

"I'm not particularly keen on how Lea's hair has been styled in this photo but I cannot praise the dip dye shade enough!"
