Redken connects celebrates creative hairdressers
The Redken Connects tour finished in London after a week of visiting cities around the UK celebrating Chromatics colour as well as announce the regional winners of the NYC Hair Awards.
Lee Stafford and Adam Browne kickstarted the event with an energetic show, with graffiti artists spray-painting the models' clothes and hair. Then the popular duo created cuts and colours for male and female clients.
Short-back-and-sides is still a popular look for male clients, but the way you finish it and the products you use is how to make it look modern," Lee stated. The male models were joined on stage by girls sporting textured lengths and structured fringes.
Lee; who opens his own academy this month, spoke about the importance of education."If we learn better, we earn better," he stated.
Before the winners of the NYC Hair Awards were announced, the Talent Tribe team made their debut, talking about their inpsiration - which ranged from Monet to roses and rivers - and the importance of entering competitions and working outside of their own comfort zones.
Colourist AJ Blackadder and Andrew Barton presented the final show, with inspiration from the Summer Olympics for their collection Sports Luxe. Using popular colouring techniques, AJ gave them names such as Visor (shine line); Finish Line (dip-dye) and Stream Line (halo).
"The dip dye technique is going to continue being popular this summer," he explained. "It is a really easy technique to offer clients but one that we as colourists can make money on."
Finally it was time for the NYC Hair Awards regional winners to be annouced - Men's Runway Style winners: Haringtons and Andrew Barton Salons; Runway to Reality winners: Vision, Brick Lane and Andrew Barton Salons; Runway Color winners: Ciente, Berkamsted and Andrew Barton Salons
