More often associated with sun-drenched holidays, the wet look is set to stick around until winter - proving that the sleek, streamlined, sporting influence of the Olympics seems set to remain strong for another season.

Seen at countless shows, the finish varied from greaser-girl, high-shine quiffs with sleek sides or intentionally comb-marked crowns to a discretely damped-down hairline contrasting against fluffy, dry-looking curls for a dual-texture look.

A-listers provide the ideal inspiration for this finish, making the wet-look work for everyday styles with a more subtle take on the trend - glistening, high-shine polish. Paint shine spray on to the crown using a tinting brush for a super-sleek finish to a ponytail or bun, or use lashings of glossy pomade to give a side-parted crop a gamine, dressed-up feel.

Here are the stars trialling the trend - will they inspire you?

Tyra Banks
"Fresh off the catwalk, Tyra's glossy, high-shine, curly locks are set to be a huge trend this Spring/Summer. Achieved with a light touch of gloss serum or a wet-look finish gel for a more on-trend style, this look is a great way to update any cut. Done well, wet-look hair can offer a natural finish that's also chic and catwalk-inspired."

Leelee Sobieski
"I love Leelee's style - it just screams chic. It's a modern take on a classic 1930's look, formed by a cute little bob created with a structural roll at the back of the head. It's one of those styles that girls could easily imitate to give them a new look on a night out, taking them from long hair to a shorter style. It's different and androgynous but oozes charisma. Leelee has fantastic bone structure so this style being pulled back off her face is a complete winner."

Emma Watson
"Before styling the hair into this quiff, a texture spray has been
applied to the hair to create a more lived-in feel. The hair has been loosely pulled back and pinned into a French pleat, and strands around the hairline have been pulled free to give a sexier look to the style. The sides have been pulled out to create a more casual finish too. This look is perfect for this Summer's sport-luxe trend and can be easily adapted to suit a variety of face shapes. I can see this being popular for several seasons."
Dion Padan, Hooka, Liverpool

Alicia Keys
"This is a powerful look; it suits Alicia's particular brand of urban style, but is still sleek and manageable. A growing trend as seen modelled by the likes of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, the most important aspect of wet-look styles is to make a statement."
Hayley Quinlin, Tikadi, Essex
