Long face-framing layers - step-by-step

Akos Bodi long face-framing layers

Face-framing layers and an on-trend centre parting are key to Akos Bodi's stunning long hairstyle. Here's how you can recreate the look.

Step One

Step One: Take a central vertical parting from the forehead to the nape, then two slightly diagonal-forward sections from the occipital bone to the top of the ears.

Step Two

Step Two: Tilt the head slightly forward. Starting at the centre back, comb the hair to its natural fall, and blunt-cut parallel to the parting. Repeat towards the sides while maintaining the corners and keeping the baseline square.

Step Three

Step Three: Take a horseshoe section from below the crown to the recession area. Repeat the technique, blunt-cutting the baseline square.

Step Four

Step Four: Continue this behind the ear. In front of the ear comb the hair to its natural fall and overdirect behind the shoulders. Work without tension and maintain the corner while continuing to cut squarely.

Step Five

Step Five: Take a curved diagonal back section from the top of the head to the top of the ears. Comb the hair slightly forward, elevating to 45 degrees from the face and cut the graduation visually from the bottom upwards.

Step Six

Step Six: Note the change of hand and body position; repeat the same technique on the opposite side.

Step Seven

Step Seven: Take a radial division and using the same technique, complete the forward graduation on both sides of the head.

Step Eight

Step Eight: Isolate the back from the front by creating two diagonal forward sections from below the crown to the top of the ears and secure with a clip.

Step Nine

Step Nine: Take a top central vertical section. Using the length from the top of the forward graduation as a guide, comb and elevate the hair 1" from the hairline to 90 degrees to the top of the head and blunt-cut visually from short to long to blend in with the baseline.

Step Ten

Step Ten: Behind the crown maintain distribution at 90 degrees and overdirect upwards to complete the layering guide.

Step Eleven

Step Eleven: Recreate the centre parting from the forehead to 1" below the crown. From this point, work with diagonal back sections, standing on the opposite side and overdirecting each section back and upwards to the centre. Follow this guide to the front. Repeat the same technique on the opposite site

Step Twelve

Step Twelve: Apply root boost, then blow-dry with a large round brush for smoothness and movement.
