Red carpet hairstyles: brits 2012 The best of British music was rewarded at the 2012 Brits, with stars including Adele, Florence Welch and Jessie J taking to the red carpet to show off their style.

Here we take a look at the best A-list looks from the UK's biggest music event, with comments from some of hairdressing's hottest names.

Abbey Clancy
*Lydia was sparkling this year at the Brits - I think she is something of an unsung fashion hero. When I look after her in salon her look is inspired by her own keen edginess and she is never afraid to bring a high fashion or classic edge to her appearance.'
Robert Kirby, Sanrizz Creative Director, Knightsbridge

Holly Willoughby
"Holly looks groomed and polished, but almost as if she's sitting on the This Morning sofa and not walking the red carpet at a glitzy event. Holly's on the right side of 30 so should use her youth to her advantage and experiment a bit more. Overall, this look is faultless as it really suits Holly and her blonde locks are billboard-worthy, but I'd just like to see her style sexed up a bit more with a disheveled bed head look."
Craig Chapman, Craig Chapman Hair Design, Launceston, Cornwall

Alexandra Burke
"Alexandra's hair always looks stunning and pristinely styled. This mermaid plait is simple yet creates a polished elegant look perfect for the red carpet."
Alexander Turnbull, Alexander Hair and Beauty, Analby, Hull

Cher Lloyd
"Fresh off the catwalk and seen on Cher Lloyd at the Brit Awards the sleek, chic high ponytail is sure to be this seasons' hot hairstyle trend."
Alexander Turnbull, Alexander Hair and Beauty, Analby, Hull

Anna-Calvi-pixie-lott-brits-2012.jpg
Anna Calvi
"This gorgeous style is ultra feminine and the soft curls combined with the tight curled fringe creates a fresh look with elements of both the classic and modern. These 1940s-inspired looks are pure glamour and they are fun choices for everyday and special occasions."
Karen Dodds, Cutting Room Creative, Leeds

Pixie Lott
"No matter what Pixie's wearing she always oozes natural style. Her slightly dishevelled 1950's style up-do suits her look perfectly and works brilliantly with her outfit - I just love it."
Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose, Pinner, Middlesex

Christina-Perri-caroline-flack-brits-2012.jpg
Christina Perri
"Christina's hair looks super shiny and healthy here. The rich chocolate colour really complements her skin tone and brings out the colour of her eyes while the blonde streak, adds fun to a otherwise very natural style."
Adrian De Luca, Marios Hairdressing, Bradford

Caroline Flack
"Thanks to Caroline, ombre hair is still a huge trend. Ombre hair is accomplished by creating a dark root and then extending downward to a lighter tip."
Alexander Turnbull, Alexander Hair and Beauty, Analby, Hull

Emeli-Sande-jo-wiley-brits-2012.jpg
Emeli Sande
"Emeli is never shy of trying new styles or trends. This style is elegant, chic and adds a modern twist to the conventional formal updos we are used to seeing. Added height on top is an ideal style for square or round face shapes as it adds some required length."
Adrian De Luca, Marios Hairdressing, Bradford

Jo Wiley
"Jo's hair colour is bright and bold but with a soft subtle creamy tone - I think it looks fabulous and it suits her edgy style. I believe for an occasion like the Brits there's a chance to be a bit more adventurous with hair ups, so I'd add in more height and movement or wear the style further forward so it can be seen more."
Jess Patching, Decadence Salon, Bloomsbury, London

Florence-Welch-kylie-brits-2012.jpg
Florence Welch
"Florence's new hair is a gorgeous rich mahogany shade. Paired with her loose curls, this look is extremely striking and perfect for the red carpet."
Adrian De Luca, Marios Hairdressing, Bradford

Kylie
"I felt this look was a little safe for Kylie - after all it is the BRITS. Although she looks stunning I think she looks too elegant - as if she is going to the Oscars rather than a London music awards. I would have like to see something more daring - maybe she could have pumped up the volume like on a recent photo shoot she did for Stylist magazine. She is fabulous enough to pull of something quirky - her hair just looks too safe and boring for the Brits."
Angela Lowery, Y SALON, Newcastle

Jessie-J-paloma-faith.jpg
Jessie J
"Jessie is such a style chameleon and this combination is a winner. She keeps her edgy vibe and doesn't play it too safe but manages to touch on the 20's trend of the moment mixing it with a touch of Hollywood glamour. Her colour although solid and a little more natural than usual is what brings this look together and stops it looking too fussy."
Karen Hyam, Atelier Hairdressing & Beauty Rooms, Redbourn

Paloma Faith
"I love Paloma's style and her hair here is not only bang on trend but it suits her unique character perfectly. The dishevelled waves still look healthy and shiny which gives this ensemble an uber-glam feel."
Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose, Pinner, Middlesex

Lana-Del-Rey-n

Lana del Rey
"Lana's hair is less about the style and more about the condition - just look how glossy her locks are! I also really like how one side of the hair is flipped back to add an interesting dimension."
Craig Chapman, Craig Chapman Hair Design, Launceston, Cornwall

Nicole Scherzinger
"Nicole's hair suits her frame perfectly. It screams effortless beauty and her locks look stunningly healthy and shiny; she's managed to look red carpet perfect without so much as a blow-dry."
Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose, Pinner, Middlesex

Laura-Whitmore-lisa-snowdon-brits-2012.jpg
Laura Whitmore
"Laura channels her inner rock chick here with platinum locks, dark roots and blood red lips. Her hair is unstyled and falls naturally over her shoulders - it's playful and sexy and is very appropriate for the Brits bash. Laura is the perfect example of how hair should be used as an extension of one's personality."
Craig Chapman, Craig Chapman Hair Design, Launceston, Cornwall

Lisa Snowdon
"Lisa's hair is very relaxed. It's simple but effective for almost any occasion as well as a night out in town. She played it safe yet it's still sexy and easy. I'm also loving the golden blonde tones which blend in beautifully with her wavy locks."
Mark Dancel, Decadence Salon, Bloomsbury, London

little-mix-brits-2012-hair.jpg
Little Mix
"Little Mix are sporting quite a variety of looks and vibrant colours and are current too.  Rich plum tones and sassy copper reds exude confidence and becoming more and more popular this season.  The styling nods to a more polished finish but keeping with the young vibe, these ladies are epic."
Sophie Jennings, Atelier Hairdressing & Beauty Rooms, Redbourn

rihanna-brits-2012-hair.jpg
Rihanna
"Rihanna's adopted two of the hottest trends this season; naturally styled afro hair and darker roots. Her ringlets work perfectly with her whole look here and the colour is so

As far the red carpet look, I can't get enough of Rihanna's hair whatever style it's in and I love this tailored up-do with her choppy fringe; it's not too over worked and looks effortlessly chic."
Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose, Pinner, Middlesex

rita-ora-lydia-bright-brits-2012-hair.jpg
Lydia Bright
"Lydia has a propensity to channel ladylike chic and here she does this to full effect with her coiffed hair-do. I can see what she wanted to achieve with this style but it looks a bit stiff. The backcombed height at the crown area is a little ageing and too grown up for Lydia - I think girly loose curls would have suited her more."
Craig Chapman, Craig Chapman Hair Design, Launceston, Cornwall

Rita Ora
"Rita's glammed up her usual dishevelled waves for the red carpet and the platinum blonde looks fabulous. I love this modern take on the classic 70's wave."
Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose, Pinner, Middlesex

Sara- Cawood-victoria-justice-brits-2012.jpg
Sarah Cawood
"Red carpet generally means one thing; glamour - and Sarah's let herself down here with this look. A good blow dry to give volume and plenty of hairspray to avoid fly aways would have given this everyday look a touch of glamour."
Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose, Pinner, Middlesex

Victoria Justice
"Victoria's definitely stolen the glam award with her ultra-shiny locks, uniquely tailored up-do all working perfectly in harmony with her outfit - who'd have thought she was only 19."
Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose, Pinner, Middlesex
