A-list gents show off silver fox styles HJI Hearts logo.bmpgeorge clooney small.jpgHollywood heroes provide a masterclass in mature style, proving that going grey gracefully is a suave choice for stylish silver foxes on the red carpet.

While female actresses of a certain age are inspired by elegant icons including Helen Mirren and Judi Dench, greying gents can take their cue from silver-hued heroes like George Clooney and Pierce Brosnan.

Here, hairdressers from across the country offer their thoughts on the most stylish silver foxes in Hollywood.

Viggo Mortensen
Viggo is a great example of a man wearing silver in a more distinguished way. The cut really emphasises his natural colour and great use of styling products brings out the shine. His colour also perfectly complements his skin tone. The key to carrying off silver hair and keeping it long is to make sure that it is well maintained and perfectly groomed.

George Clooney
George Clooney's silver hair colour really suits him - so much so, I can't remember what his original colour is. He obviously looks after the tones very well, which is very important as grey can look unkempt and ageing if the hair is allowed to grow too long. When grey hair is done right, it can project an image of the discerning gentleman, one which George is the archetype for. A true style icon for the mature male.

Harrison Ford
I love Harrison's shattered style as it complements the blend of silver and white tones in his hair. More texture and bulk through the front would make him look even better by thickening up the look and stopping the fringe from appearing too sparse and feathery. Overall he still looks suave, and it's great he's confident in wearing his natural colour.

Pierce Brosnan
I have to applaud Pierce for embracing his natural grey. He's got that sexy 'salt and pepper' thing going on; just a smattering of silver through the sides and darker pieces adding strength to the look. The designer stubble is a nice addition too, giving the whole look a more rugged feel. This is the way to grow old gracefully.
