X factor style: the groups' makeovers.

As any good pop star knows, image is everything - which is why the X Factor finalists have enjoyed a sleek new makeover.
Craig Chapman, British Hairdressing Awards 2010 finalist for Wales and South West Hairdresser of the Year, Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year and Afro Hairdresser of the Year, and owner of sumptuous salon Craig Chapman, Cornwall, tells us what he thinks of the group new 'dos.
Although there haven't been too many dramatic changes, all the groups have enjoyed a glossy transformation, giving them that extra hint of popstar polish. Keep reading to see what Craig thinks, as well as getting your first glance at their new looks.
The Groups
1 Direction
"Well with a little bit of grooming and peroxide, One Direction has their slightly more coiffured look ready for TV! They were quite funky little dudes originally, and to push their image too far would have made them unidentifiable to their age group. I think a good job has been done by just cleaning up their colours, although one has had a full blonde transformation - always needed in boy band world! The new hues alongside some great texture cutting have left them ready to rumble."
FYD
"Call me biased, but in my opinion FYD are probably the most talented band that has made it through to the finals EVER! Great voices, great dancers, great style - but in terms of hair they don't have much to shout about. Luckily the haven't tried to change the two lads that do have more hair, as their styles already really suit them, so just the smallest amount of grooming has tidied FYD up ready to rock it out on The X Factor stage. Maybe a few new looks will pop up with these guys along the way - and just maybe we'll see what's under the hat!"
Belle Amie
"Four very pretty girls that needed nothing more than a good tidy up! A good cut, not even removing that much length, will strengthen anyone's image, and that has worked a treat for Belle Amie. By adding fringes, cleaning up the length, and grooming the layers they have really spiced up their styles. Intensifying the colours has also modernised their image and given them a current look. Staying true to girl band formula they've got one blonde, one black-haired, one redhead and a good old-fashioned warm brown - you can't go wrong and they do look great!"
