Matrix: on the road to destination.fame

Every hairdresser loves to push back the boundaries from time to time; so it was no surprise that the inaugural Matrix Destination.Fame - the competition with a 'no rules' philosophy - proved a huge hit.

Hundereds of photographic entries, each meeting Matrix's philosophy of being bang on-trend, wearible, daring and displaying positive energy, were whittled down to 12 talented hairdressers who got to present their look in the live final:

Sarah Louise Heath, from Regis Hairstylist.

Jason Crozier, from Franco & Co, London.

Byron Roberts, from Baa Baa Hair Design

Tracy Dunbar, from TDS Hairdressing, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Mobile:

Dan Barr, from Hooker & Young

Marc Smith, from Paul Falltrick's Hairdressing

Gill Berry, from hug8.

Lydia Jackson, Sheffield.

Justine Burgess, Studio One, Birmingham.

Jemma Baford, Northampton College.

Jemma Leach, Yazz No.1 Hair Studio, Leeds.

Charlotte Brookes, Yazz No.1 Hair Studio

In the final, held at L'Oréal International Academy London, the 12 finalists were each given 45 minutes to perfect their look on a model before presenting to the judges Matrix Artistic Directors: Errol Douglas MBE, Andrew Jose, Terry Longden and Head of Matrix Marketing Darragh O'Connor.

All the finalists demonstrated top quality work but the judges agreed that Dan Bonar, Gill Berry and Charlotte Brookes were the stand out winners.
