Ten talented hairdressers from London and the south showed off their creative abilities to a capacity crowd at the final Redken Artistic Party (RAP) of 2008 at the Royal Ascot Pavilion.

The two competitions - to find the Style Innovator who could create a high fashion look from the New York catwalk, and a Colour Genius who could best interpret the theme Metallic Glam - were interspersed with inspiring seminars from Redken guest artists Lee Stafford, Amanda Dicker, Martyn Gale, Ashley Gaunt, Kelly Scott and Chris Moody.

After an initial round of moodboard judging, the five finalists in each category were given the chance to complete their looks on stage and try to impress the esteemed judging panel, which included Jonny Engstrom from Guy Kremer, Jason Welch from eleven salon and Mike Saunders from Yellow Strawberry.

Style Innovators

  • Samantha Makepeace from Ciente, Berkhamsted
  • Taka Kanai from Burlington's Hair salon, London
  • Jade Hazell from Creations, Chichester
  • Carly Toms from Artisan, Watford
  • Joel Grant from lee Stafford, Leigh on sea

Colour Genius

  • Jenna Harwood from Look Fantastic, Chichester
  • Joseph Charles Wielgomas from Ciente, Berkhamsted
  • Eunsook Halls from Sean Hanna, London
  • Monique Smart from Burlingtons , London
  • Rebecca Adams from The Chapel, Tunbridge Wells

The standard was phenomenal and the judges had their work cut out to choose the winner, but after some tough deliberations they selected Joel Grant and Joseph Charles Weilgomas to go through to the final at TRIBE 08.
